Homework ~ The Master Class of Finishing

Homework: Yes, we will use them all! Work all swatches on light-colored, smooth worsted weight or heavier yarn and appropriate needles. Please use a decent yarn that won't split or give you fits - after all, you will be spending 6 hours together. Do not block any swatches.

Swatch 1 and 2: Cast on 30 sts. Stockinette 6" (knit all sts on right side, purl all sts on wrong side) and bind off.

Swatch 3: Cast on 30 sts. Stockinette the same as first two swatches for 3". Then create a "neckline" by binding off 6 sts in the center and decreasing 3 times at the neck edge on each side, working each side separately or at the same time. Continue to work each side straight until 6" and bind off.

Swatch 4: Cast on 20 sts. K10, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2. Next row: P2, k2, p2, k2, p2, k10. Repeat these two rows creating 2/2 rib on the left 10 sts and garter stitch on the right until 5". Bind off.

Swatch 5: Work the same as Swatch 4 but switch the patterns: K2, p2, k2, p2, k2, k10. Work the 2/2 rib on the right and garter on the last 10 sts

Swatch 6: Cast on 20 sts. Stockinette for 3 inches. Bind off 6 sts at the beginning of the next right side row. Then bind off 2 sts at the same edge every right side row 3 times. Continue even until the swatch is 6 inches. Bind off.
